Following on from winning the Midlands Open Championship at Bosch Hoek Golf Club last weekend, Nikhil Gopal in Grade 11, travelled to Benoni Country Club where he played in the Bridge Fund Managers Junior Series 2018. At 3 under par with 69 strokes after 18 holes the reigning Benoni Club Champion and Nikhil were neck and neck, they had to play on to sudden death. Both players halved their respective holes until 18H50 when it became too dark to continue with play. The contest was called evens and as a result both golfers from this round of the Bridge Fund Managers Junior Series will proceed to the regional final which will be played later in the year. Should Nikhil finish victorious at this next leg of this series, he will travel to the USA to compete further. Nikhil is aiming for a unique hat-trick of wins this coming weekend when he defends his title at the Victoria Country Club Champs played over 36 holes.
