With much anticipation the newly elected prefect body set out on their leadership camp to Cumberland Nature Reserve. Upon arrival Mr Dirk Calitz, founder of Outdoor Educators, received the prefects with a hearty welcome. The prefects had a very busy schedule and started the programme with ice breaker activities and going through a dark maze tunnel. Each of these activities had a purpose and was designed to reflect on leadership qualities and life experiences. The first day ended with the prefects having to prepare their own meal with a braai and an evening session with Mr Luksich.
 The following day was an early start with a short hike down to a dam where the prefects did kayaking and learnt valuable lessons in communication. The short hike back saw a stop off at the low ropes course where teamwork was the main theme and valuable lessons learnt. The afternoon was a long session planning the next year with Mrs Watt-Pringle. Needless to say; this session lasted long into the night! On the last day the prefects had a short hike to an amazing view of the Umgeni River and spent some time doing solitaire and reflecting.
 After a hearty breakfast the busses were packed and left for Grace College. We want to make special mention to Mr Calitz from Outdoor Educators who put together an amazing programme for the prefects. A big thank you to Mr Luksich and Mrs Watt-Pringle for attending the camp and imparting their knowledge to the prefects. We look forward to the 2019 prefect year and wish them the best of luck in their tenure as leaders.
